// Our Apprentices Take Action as Eco Scouts
In December 2025, several of our apprentices attended the IHK’s “Eco Scout” training in Aalen. The program focused on identifying energy losses in the workplace and using resources more sustainably.
Using thermal imaging cameras and measurements of temperature, light levels, and voltage, participants examined and analyzed various areas. This revealed where energy was being lost and how more conscious and efficient practices could be adopted both in everyday life and within the company.
The focus was on practical ideas for reducing CO₂ emissions and saving energy. Over several months, participants developed and implemented their proposals within their companies.
At the final presentation day, all participating companies had the opportunity to share their results. We are particularly pleased that our apprentices achieved first place.
All participants also received a certificate recognizing them as trained Eco Scouts.
We are proud of our apprentices’ commitment and delighted with their contribution to greater sustainability.

// Technician Projects 2025: Retrofit of the Joining Application by the ELWEMA Team
Michael Kilian, Johannes Leopold and Marius Uhl successfully completed their technician project at ELWEMA between September 2024 and June 2025.
The aim of the project was to bring an ageing joining application up to current technological standards through a comprehensive retrofit.
The safety systems were upgraded, a new Kistler controller was installed, and a new HMI with an additional industrial PC was integrated.
We would like to thank all three technicians for their excellent work.
// Innovation in Screw Feeding: Spotlight on Our Technician Project
Last week, our technicians had the opportunity to present their latest project, titled “Conceptual Design and Development of a Flexible Screw Feeding System Using a Robot-Assisted Camera System.” The main objective was to create a system capable of precisely identifying, picking, and correctly positioning screws—a key step toward optimizing manufacturing processes.
The project began with a thorough analysis of existing feeding systems to identify weaknesses. Various concepts were developed and evaluated, including Vibroliner, bin picking, and automatic replacement of the supporting surface. Extensive testing identified the optimal lighting and surface conditions to ensure reliable operation.
Following the conceptual phase, the newly developed feeding system was designed and built. Programming the programmable logic controller (PLC), robot, and human-machine interface (HMI) formed the technological core of the project, enabling seamless integration into existing production lines.
The results speak for themselves: the screw feeding process was made significantly more efficient, resulting in time and cost savings. The system accommodates different screw types and product requirements, while optimized RGB LED lighting ensures precise and reliable screw detection. It is also robust enough to withstand industrial operating conditions, supporting a long service life and minimal maintenance requirements.
We are proud of our technicians’ dedication and expertise. Their work represents an important step in the further development of our industrial automation solutions.
Special thanks go to IFSYS Integrated Feeding Systems GmbH and Büchner Lichtsysteme GmbH, whose support contributed significantly to the success of this technician project.

// ELWEMA’s valve seat insert and valve guide assembly machine for cylinder heads
ELWEMA’s best-known machine in engine manufacturing is the assembly machine for valve seat inserts and valve guides. This machine is integrated into cylinder head production lines for lorry and passenger car engines. In the last 25 years, we have supplied more than 210 machines to customers in Europe, America, Asia and South America.
ELWEMA was the first company to develop a standardised assembly machine for valve seat inserts and valve guides in which a robot positions the component and assembles the valve seat inserts and valve guides in a single, double or quadruple press spindle arrangement. Press-fit processes that are monitored by force-displacement control are carried out at ambient temperature or with nitrogen-cooled assemblies.
We provide support for our installed machine base throughout its entire service life with spare parts and process expertise via our global service network. If you are interested, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
